The purpose of this blog post is to teach how to live bold and speak the things you really want, whether controversial or not.
It doesn’t really matter whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert. Some extroverts find it difficult harnessing their naturally outspoken gift, expressing themselves, and standing out in public while other introverts are able to do those effortlessly.
Have you ever gone to a gathering, all dressed up with the hope of getting some attention just to see that one other person whose dressing doesn’t even equal yours is getting everyone drawn to him like ants to sugar?
It’s because you don’t have a strong presence/personality. Below are ways you can be seen and actually listened to:
LISTEN BEFORE YOU SPEAK
You don’t need to be the first to bring your ideas and contribution to the table. Find a good pause in the discussion to dish out your mind after deep reasoning. Recognize what everyone has said and reiterate them. You’ll have their attention, then give your own value.
STOP SEEKING APPROVAL FROM OTHERS
Don’t fight to be accepted by others. It only makes you appear like an attention seeker. When you stop seeking unnecessary approval from others, it will help you appear more confident. Who doesn’t like to listen to someone who can make good decisions on their own?
TALK ABOUT YOUR SHORTCOMINGS
Talk about the times you attempted suicide because of lack of motivation, the times you fell into depression and how you got out of it. People love listening to the shortcomings of others. Your audience will see you as a motivator and a person with a lot of experience.
DON’T LEAN FORWARD WHILE STANDING/SITTING
Never slouch. Don’t lean while standing/sitting. Keep your shoulders straight, and your chest your chest moderately out. Take your steps confidently.
MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT WHILE TALKING
This is one ethic that screams confidence! It shows you believe in what you’re saying. Note that maintaining eye contact is not staring. Blink and take your eyes off occasionally. Too much eye contact makes you appear aggressive and intimidating.
HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR
Make them laugh, however, don’t laugh too much yourself. Laughing too much makes you appear stupid. A slight curve of your lips should do. Trust me, you’ll appear posh and breathtaking.
SHAKE HANDS FIRMLY
Shake hands firmly. Are you a girl? It doesn’t matter. It is the perfect way to stand out. Show them you’re prepared for whatever that’s coming. This varies though. Don’t grip hands so much if you’re searching for a romantic date. Keep it professional when you need to.
Rap it if you can. Good articulation is very sexy. People’s ears will itch to hear what your voice.
Now you know how to grab attention. Go out there and stand out.
